The CSAFF, a prominent global platform that celebrates South Asian culture, talent, and diverse perspectives through cinema, art, and thought-provoking discussions, bestowed the SAFA Award upon Rasika Dugal, highlighting her exceptional skills as an artist.
'Lord Curzon Ki Haveli,' a captivating black comedy thriller, has been creating ripples on the festival circuit with its gripping storyline. The film takes viewers on a compelling journey through the Asian diaspora in the UK, weaving in profound themes of identity and gender within the framework of a riveting mystery. Notably, the Chicago South Asian International Film Festival selected it as the Closing Night Film, a testament to its significance and appeal.
Expressing her gratitude upon receiving the award, Rasika Dugal remarked, "It's a genuine honor to be here today. My last visit to Chicago was 12 years ago for the Chicago International Film Festival, where I presented a very independent film. We filmed it over weekends or whenever we could scrape together some funds. It was the first time at that festival that critics reviewed my work. Thankfully, the reviews were glorious, and just reading those words about my work was incredibly encouraging. So, Chicago has been exceptionally kind to me. I feel incredibly fortunate that, 12 years later, I find myself back in this city for another festival, showcasing another independent film. I take great pride in the fact that in my journey as an actor, I continue to work on films that bring me to places like this while also having the opportunity to contribute to more mainstream projects, made accessible to actors like me thanks to streaming services. Festivals like CSAFF play a crucial role in encouraging artists like me. I extend my heartfelt thanks to CSAFF for their impeccable curation and for respecting and nurturing our work."
In addition to her acclaimed role in 'Lord Curzon Ki Haveli,' Rasika Dugal has been making waves in the entertainment industry.
