Hyderabad, Telangana, February 20, 2025: Telangana has been selected to host the 72nd edition of the prestigious Miss World 2025 pageant, a four-week extravaganza running from May 7 to May 31. Beauties from across the globe will gather in India to represent their nations, with the event set to highlight Telangana’s vibrant cultural heritage and natural splendor. The opening ceremony and grand finale will take place in Hyderabad, the "City of Pearls" and a thriving IT hub, while various competition segments will span multiple cities in the state.
As India’s youngest state, formed in 2014, Telangana has made remarkable strides in progress, boasting excellent road connectivity, world-class airports, renowned educational institutions, modern healthcare facilities, and a robust economy driven by its IT, film, and pharmaceutical industries. The state’s breathtaking natural landscapes, historic landmarks, and rich cultural traditions have also made it a magnet for global tourists. Preparations are underway to ensure Miss World 2025 is a grand celebration of this legacy.
Julia Morley CBE, Chairperson and CEO of Miss World Limited, announced the event alongside Smita Sabharwal, Telangana’s Secretary of Tourism, Culture, Heritage, and Youth Affairs. Morley expressed delight at partnering with Telangana, a state renowned for its ancient heritage, innovation, and hospitality. “This collaboration will showcase Telangana’s invaluable legacy to the world, empowering women and celebrating ‘Beauty with a Purpose,’” she said, emphasizing the event’s broader mission of unity and societal impact.
Echoing Morley, Smita Sabharwal welcomed the Miss World Organization, stating, “Telangana is where beauty transcends the eyes, woven into its soil, culture, and traditions. From festivals to craftsmanship, it epitomizes true beauty.” She highlighted the opportunity to present Telangana’s handicrafts, tourism hotspots, cuisine, and artistry globally.
Over 120 contestants, including India’s representative, will compete for the crown, with the reigning Miss World, Krystyna Pyszková from Czechia, crowning her successor at the Hyderabad finale. Following the success of the 71st Miss World in New Delhi and Mumbai in 2024, Telangana is poised to host yet another unforgettable celebration of global beauty and purpose.
